Vivek Srikrishnan, Principal Investigator
Vivek Srikrishnan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological & Environmental Engineering at Cornell. He works on climate risk management, and is particularly interested in how uncertainties and multi-sector feedbacks can influence the efficacy of risk management interventions. Dr. Srikrishnan received an M.S. and Ph.D in Energy & Mineral Engineering from Penn State and a B.S. in Mathematics and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also lost on Jeopardy!.
David Lafferty, Postdoctoral Scholar
David Lafferty is a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering at Cornell. David received his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2024. He holds a M.Sc. in Physics from Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Glasgow. David’s research focuses on climate risk management; he is interested in applying novel modeling techniques to better characterize the risks of a changing climate and develop robust adaptation strategies in the presence of deep and dynamic uncertainties. Outside of work, David enjoys running, cycling, reading, and playing and watching soccer.
Parin Bhaduri, Ph.D. Student
Parin Bhaduri is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering at Cornell. He graduated with a B.S from the Johns Hopkins University in Environmental Health and Engineering and Public Health Studies in the Spring of 2021. Parin is interested in the utilization of systems-level modeling to inform decision makers on climate adaptation, particularly on issues surrounding climate justice and equity. In his free time, Parin enjoys baking, photography, and playing soccer.
Luan Brito, Ph.D. Student
Luan Brito is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Cornell. He holds an M.S. and B.S. degrees in Meteorology from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Luan’s research focus on atmospheric variability, ensemble weather forecasting and climate change impacts on human activities. He is passionated by the weather and also enjoys video games, road trips and taking care of his cats.
Yifan Luo, Ph.D. Student
Yifan Luo is a Ph.D. student in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell. She holds an M.S. in Environment and Sustainability from the University of Michigan, specializing in Ecosystem Science and Management and Geospatial Data Sciences, and she completed her B.S. degrees in Forest Sciences from the University of British Columbia and Biotechnology from Beijing Forestry University. Yifan’s research focuses on understanding hydrological and climatic processes and their interactions on different spatial and temporal scales. Outside of academics, Yifan enjoys traveling, reading, watching films, and playing video games.
Katerina Tang, Ph.D. Student
Katerina Tang is a Ph.D. student at the Center for Applied Mathematics at Cornell. She graduated with a B.A. in Mathematics from Kenyon College in May 2021. Katerina is interested in the development and application of network analysis methods to identify pathways leading to cascading failures in coupled human-Earth systems. Outside of math, Katerina enjoys knitting, climbing, and running.
